Quick Details
Take an Alaskan Road Trip from Fairbanks as You Venture North to the Best Alaskan Spots!
Absorb the immensity of the Alaskan tundra, see the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, and cross the Yukon River on this scenic drive to the Arctic Circle. Your journey begins when our tour van picks you up from your hotel in Fairbanks. After stopping at a local grocery store to allow you to purchase a day’s worth of food and water, you’re off along the Dalton Highway, one of the most famous highways in Alaska, connecting Fairbanks with the oil fields at Prudhoe Bay.
Our Arctic Circle Tour will take you 400 miles across Alaska’s north, offering plenty of opportunities for sightseeing, picture-taking, and wildlife watching. You’ll get to cross the Yukon River, gaze at Finger Mountain, and witness plenty of moose along the occasional bear. The tour ends at the Arctic Circle Sign, where you’ll be presented with a commemorative Arctic Circle Certificate before we return to Fairbanks.
The Arctic Circle Tour makes five scheduled stops along the way:
-
A popular hypermarket chain in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase all the food you need for the day’s journey.
-
The Trans-Alaska Pipeline is one of the world’s longest, carrying crude oil along an 800-mile journey from Prudhoe Bay in the north of Alaska to Valdez, where it is shipped out to the world.
-
The E. L. Patton Yukon River Bridge is one of the largest bridges in Alaska, offering a scenic view of one of its most important rivers. Originally constructed as part of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System, it is the only bridge crossing the Yukon River in Alaska.
-
Also known as Finger Hill, the unusual granite shape of Finger Mountain has made it a curiosity for travelers in this part of Alaska for decades.
-
Located just off the Dalton Highway, this sign marks the official beginning of the Arctic Circle, the northernmost region of the globe. When you reach the Arctic Circle Monument, you’ll be presented with your very own certificate commemorating your journey to one of the most remote and dangerous regions of the world.
